Het International Court of Justice (ICJ) heeft de Commission of Small Island States on Climate Change and International Law (COSIS) op haar verzoek toegelaten om deel te nemen aan het adviseringsproces inzake verplichtingen van staten met betrekking tot klimaatverandering. In deze zaak vroeg de Algemene Vergadering van de VN het Hof om vragen hierover te beantwoorden.
Pursuant to Article 66 of its Statute, the Court has decided that COSIS is likely to be able to furnish information on the questions submitted to the Court by the General Assembly. COSIS may therefore present a written statement on those questions, and written comments on any written statements made by States or other organizations, within the time-limits fixed by the President of the Court in her Order of 20 April 2023, namely 20 October 2023 and 22 January 2024, respectively. The subsequent procedure has been reserved for further decision.
