On 15 October 2026 the Center for Regulation and Contract Law (CRCL) of the University of Zurich hosts the launch of Freedom of Contract in the European Financial Sector (Oxford University Press) by Prof. Dr. Danny Busch (Radboud University Nijmegen). The meeting will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Yeşim Atamer (UZH). After a presentation by the author of the book's main arguments, a panel consisting of Prof. Dr. Kern Alexander (UZH), Prof. Dr. Aline Darbellay (UZH) and Prof. Dr. Katja Langenbucher (Goethe University Frankfurt) will discuss various aspects of the book. The book analyses freedom of contract and its restrictions in the European financial sector, covering EU financial supervision law, general EU law, contract law and consumer law, and examines how the interplay between freedom of contract, the protection of the weaker party and other public interests affects banks and other financial institutions.
