This conference examines the relationship between climate change, human rights and democratic governance. Bringing together scholars working at the intersection of climate law, human rights and political theory, the programme explores how the escalating climate crisis may undermine democratic institutions and fundamental rights, while also considering how human rights and democratic principles can strengthen demands for effective climate action. The conference aims to foster discussion on emerging research and encourage collaboration within this rapidly developing field. It is organised by the NNHRR Working Group on Human Rights and the Climate Crisis in collaboration with the Amsterdam Centre for European Studies (ACES), the University of Amsterdam and Tilburg University.
