This workshop brings together researchers, civil society organisations and activists to discuss the EU Green Deal and its extractive frontiers in Europe and beyond. It connects conceptual debates on green extractivism with critical analyses of EU climate policy (including the Critical Raw Materials Act) and studies of dissensus and resistance (social movements, legal mobilization). The day is designed for exchange, troubleshooting challenges in our work, and exploring future collaborations.
There will be three thematic sessions with short inputs from invited speakers, followed by open discussion:
• Session 1: Conceptualising Green Extractivism
• Session 2: Green Extractivism & the EU Critical Raw Materials Act
• Session 3: Researching Dissensus & Resistance to Green Extractivism.
