This workshop, organised by the University of Amsterdam, explores the opportunities and challenges associated with the application of competition law to labour markets. The application of competition law to labour markets is finally gaining momentum in Europe. The European Commission has, for the first time, imposed a fine for an agreement between companies not to poach each other’s employees, and is currently seeking input on how to consider worker impacts in merger assessments. This workshop explores the opportunities and challenges associated with this so-called ‘labour antitrust’ enterprise. The keynote will be delivered by Eric Posner (University of Chicago).
