On the 7th and 8th of July the T.M.C. Asser Instituut and the Law Faculty of Leiden University have organized a conference about the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), which is drawing nearer. Ever since the European Commission issued its legislative proposal, six consecutive EU Council Presidencies have conducted negotiations on this flagship project in the policy area of Freedom, Security and Justice. Now the time is ripe to examine these legislative drafts agreed between EU Member States and to discuss the implications of EPPO. This event aims to bring together legal scholars and practitioners to provide an account of the current state of play, with a view to offering a prospective analysis of the main legal issues at stake.
